China aims to develop the Hengqin District in southern Guangdong Province into an international tourism island in its efforts to further integrate the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

中國的目標是將廣東省橫琴區(qū)發(fā)展成為一個國際旅游島嶼，以進一步整合粵港澳大灣區(qū)。

The State Council has approved, in principle, the proposal raised for such a transformation, according to a statement released Monday on its website.

根據(jù)周一在其網(wǎng)站上發(fā)布的聲明，國務(wù)院原則上批準了為這種轉(zhuǎn)變而提出的提案。

Hengqin, located on an island, is next door to Macao. The 106.46-square-km region is expected to become a global tourism destination with a modern industrial system, green ecosystem and smart services.

橫琴島位于島上，毗鄰澳門。這個占地106.46平方公里的地區(qū)有望成為一個擁有現(xiàn)代工業(yè)系統(tǒng)，綠色生態(tài)系統(tǒng)和智能服務(wù)的全球旅游目的地。

 The development of Hengqin will promote the moderate economic diversification of Macao and become a demonstration zone for the deep integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the statement said.

聲明說，橫琴的發(fā)展將促進澳門經(jīng)濟的多元化，成為粵港澳深度融合的示范區(qū)。

A free trade pilot zone will also be promoted in the region, according to the statement.

聲明稱，該地區(qū)還將推廣自由貿(mào)易試驗區(qū)。 

In February 2019, Chinese authorities unveiled the outline development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, aiming to develop the city cluster into a quality living circle for living, working, health care and traveling.
